Our History

NCC -0011.jpg

In 1977,

forty-three born-again believers from a cross-section of denominational backgrounds met in a home in Waynesville, North Carolina to begin a New Testament Church. In the first years, our founding pastor, Dr. Frank Harvey led the Church from services in that same family room to an old dry-cleaner's building in downtown Waynesville, then finally in 1991 to its present location at 767 Lee Road in Clyde.  With each growth opportunity the NCC faithfully responded and was abundantly rewarded.  Having vowed in 1977 to give ten percent of all offerings to missions, today New Covenant has planted missions in almost every country in the world. In 2004, after twenty-seven years, Dr. Harvey passed the leadership of the Church to Pastor Nick Honerkamp.

Our new 14,000 sq. ft. Family Impact Ministries facility was dedicated on June 26, 2005 and with the availability of this space, many new activities have been birthed and Family Impact Minitry has greatly expanded. Over the last several years our Life Group Ministry has also been established, based on a free market model, we are currently averaging 60-70 groups a semester.

New Covenant Church has also been active in community outreach.  At the present time, we are hosting Haywood Christian Academy Junior School at our facilities during the week. In 2008, NCC was designated as a Emergency Disaster Shelter, one of the first churches in Haywood County to be certified.  NCC has been actively training Chaplains who serve locally, regionally and in other states as needed.

Over the years NCC has strove to be regional Church with a world impact, a place to experience God, and build successful lives.

Who WE Are

NCC -0035.jpg

At New Covenant Church...

you can partner with a church built on a vision for family and Biblical-based teachings and dedicated to serving our local community Western North Carolina. We welcome you to enjoy a relaxing environment, where people come dressed casually, have a cup of coffee, and worship Jesus together.

Our worship is a mixture of the new contemporary and the traditional songs we have come to know and love. In our worship experience we seek to provide an atmosphere were we can lift up the name of our creator together and listen to Biblical teaching with practical applications to our lives.

We offer a variety of programs  through our FAMILY IMPACT MINISTRY designed to offer age appropriate classes in a safe and interactive environment where parents, leaders, and volunteers work together to incite wonder, provoke discovery, and fuel passion in the heart of every child/student. Our Family Impact Ministry seeks to promote a culture where church and family partner together to position our children into their purpose!

You can also connected with other members of NCC through Life Groups. There are many different groups available to help minister to you and to help build relationships inside and outside of church.

What We Believe

We Believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule for a thousand years.

We Believe

The Bible is the only inspired and infallible, authoritative Word of God. Also, There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

We Believe

  • In the Blessed Hope, the personal return of Jesus Christ to receive His church. (I Thessalonians 4:16,17)
  • That the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the blood of Christ. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation (Titus 3:5).
  • Water Baptism, immersion in water for believers only; identifying them with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19).
  • In Deliverance, the expelling of evil spirits in the Name of Jesus. (Mark 16:17)
  • Communion, The Lord's Supper is a covenant meal for believers with the bread representing the body of Jesus Christ and the cup representing the new covenant in His blood.

   We believe

  • The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. (II Peter 2:24, James 5:14)
  • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 is given to believers who ask for it.
  • In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
  • In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost- the saved to everlasting life, and the other to everlasting damnation. (Revelation 20)
  • Laying on of hands is effective in setting aside people to perform specific duties related to ministry, in praying for the sick (James 5:14), the dedication of infants and the impartation of spiritual blessings. (I Timothy 4:14)
  • The Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of Jesus' great commission. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers. There is a spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1: 22, 2: 19-22, Hebrews 12: 23, John 17:11, 20-23)
