Pastoral Care

Benevolence is the program of New Covenant Church dedicated to the providing for the physical needs of our congregation as well as others from within our community. It consists of the giving of money, food, gas, providing shelter, clothing, etc., whatever the need is as assessed and approved by either a Staff Pastor or Associate Pastor.

Pastor on Call: Each Staff Pastor and Associate Pastor serve as pastor on call on a rotating basis.  The purpose of this ministry is to serve the needs for immediate care of the congregation of New Covenant Church. They serve by making hospital visits which includes being present during all surgeries; prayer chain calls; getting meals out were needed; caring for families during funerals; visitation of the home bound and other general pastoral care of the people.

Pastor on Duty:  Each Staff Pastor serves one day a week in the office as Pastor on Duty.  Their responsibility during this day is to take care of those who may “walk-in” in need of ministry and/or have a benevolence need.

Chaplains:  Chaplains are trained lay leaders who serve in many areas of the Church and Community. They may be called to travel with the Pastor on Call on hospital visits, make home visits, make phone calls, to serve Angel Food Ministry by being present to pray on delivery day, to serve as needed for disaster situations and/or members of Rapid Response Teams. To be a Chaplain, you must sign up for the training which takes place during the Life Group Fall Semester. Meal Teams and Care Packages:  Meal teams are groups of people who are organized to prepare meals for families during the death and funeral of family members as well as to take meals to those going home from the hospital or in home bound situations where meals are needed. Care packages are taken to families where there has been a death of a family member. The package is filled with all of the paper products and basic necessities that might be needed during this time of need.
